Maria, Trainee Electrical Engineering

Why did you choose the Statkraft International Trainee Programme?
I’m an electrical power engineer with a dual degree from KTH in Stockholm and UPC in Barcelona. I was looking for an opportunity to try out different roles and work in different locations.
I was also attracted to join the Future Board to influence Statkraft's top management and finally, I wanted to connect with other trainees from different business areas to build a social and professional network.
Did you find what you were looking for?
Yes! I started in Electro-Tech in Oslo and worked with Operation and Maintenance of high voltage assets and innovation projects, mainly for hydro power. In my second rotation I went to Brazil where I had a similar engineering role but with more financial analysis and focused on wind turbines and converter technology. For my last rotation I’m going to Peru to support the technical team there.
To work in the Future Board fulfills my dream of combining a technical engineering job and strategic leadership. I’ve acquired a lot of technical knowledge and I’ve built a very good network – and I’m developing my communication and teamworking skills every day. My colleagues and the other trainees are a fantastic bunch! The value at Statkraft that truly resonates with me is “We grow together”!
Who would you recommend this program to?
Students who have a lot of initiative, are curious, self-driven and open-minded will benefit the most from this program. If you’re eager to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people, you’ll love this program.
